Andrew Lock appointed as Ambassador for the Australian Himalayan Foundation

The AHF is pleased to announced that Andrew Lock, Australia's most accomplished high-altitude mountaineer has accepted the honorary role of Ambassador for the Foundation.

In 2009 Andrew completed his 15-year campaign to summit all of the fourteen 8,000m peaks when he climbed Shishapangma and became the first Australian to achieve this goal. Last year he was recognised for his outstanding achievements by being named the Australian Geographic Society's Adventurer of the Year.

We're deeply honoured that Andrew has agreed to be part of our ongoing efforts to give something back to the people of the Himalaya by promoting the Foundation's work and assisting us to raise funds for our health, education and environmental projects.

Andrew's adventures continue in April/May this year when he will be attempting to summit Everest a third time - but this climb, without oxygen, will be a traverse of the mountain from Tibet to Nepal.

You can keep in touch with Andrew's achievements and public presentations via his website www.andrew-lock.com and through our Yakety Yak enews.
