Hike Mount Buller West Ridge | Mirimbah. VIC
Join Josh Hamill, the adventurer and content creator behind Better Hiking, for an unforgettable Summit Sunday on the Mount Buller West Ridge Circuit. From taking on Australia’s toughest trails to exploring the Himalayas, Josh has built a dedicated community of outdoor enthusiasts, inspiring thousands to push their limits and embrace the wild.
The Mount Buller West Ridge Circuit is an all-time classic trail for mountain goers in Victoria. The West Ridge and western faces of Mt Buller showcase perhaps the most ‘alpine’ profile of any mountain in mainland Australia, hence why it is the perfect location for an AHF Summit Sunday.
The circuit climbs from Mirimbah following Doughtys Road until it meets with the West Ridge trailhead. The West Ridge is followed to the summit of Mt Buller over 5km of stunning ridgeline walking. From the summit the circuit descends back to Mirimbah via the McLaughlins Shoulder and Klingsporn Bridle Track, totalling 20km and 1300m of vertical ascent and descent. This hike is suitable to beginners who are looking to challenge themselves, but it is recommended more for those of intermediate hiking fitness. It is possible to finish the walk halfway in the village if you organise a car shuffle.
