Missing trekking? We are.

So today we are gifting you the Everest Base Camp trek! Take the trek in just 2 hours with this film by Stephen Slater. Shot in October 2015, some of the terrible damage left by the Nepal earthquake is still visible as the team passes through places like Khumjung. A great way to look back at your trek, or look forward to travelling again in future.

Mountain Story of the Day – Pema*

In a remote village in Bhutan, Pema’s* mother left when she was a baby. Little Pema grew up with family members who severely abused her. But Pema was determined, and lucky. ‘I decided to run away from my [family] and look for a better life. I tried to find help from a female police officer I met at school.’
 
Pema was referred to our partner RENEW Bhutan.
With AHF support, RENEW shelters women and children who have experienced family violence.
 
‘Now I am at a place where I can speak and share my thoughts,’ says Pema. ‘Life is much better now as I am no longer abused and I am free to make choices for myself.’
