Who you’re supporting
Health workers like Sita
Making healthcare more accessible to mountain communities
In the remote mountain villages of Nepal, the nearest hospital can be a day’s journey away. With communities scattered across the valleys, local health posts are a lifeline for access to life saving healthcare.
Our maternal and child health programs strengthen rural health facilities, provide essential medical supplies, train local health workers and ensure families can access safer, more dignified care.
Real impact: Last year in the lower Solukhumbu, every single mother gave birth with a skilled health worker by her side, making childbirth safer for all.
Your support helps health workers like Sita provide better health education and care to her local community.
Teachers like Maya
Educating the next generation of children
Many children in Nepal face barriers to quality education including limited resources, under-supported teachers and a lack of inclusive learning environments.
Through our education programs, we support teachers like Maya with training, mentoring and classroom resources helping create safe, engaging spaces where children can learn and thrive.
Real impact: Last year, we strengthened local school systems by training 1,043 teachers and delivering vital learning materials to 137 schools. Education thrives when educators are supported.
Your support enables children to learn, progress and reach their full potential thanks to teachers like Maya. Read Maya’s story.
Frontline communities in Nepal
Protecting Himalayan forests and the people who call them home
In Nepal, forests have long been the lifeblood of local communities. In recent years, these vital ecosystems have faced an unprecedented threat: a surge in forest fires fuelled by climate change and human activity.
AHF works alongside remote communities on the frontline to strengthen fire prevention, preparedness and response efforts.
Real impact: In just six months, fire-vulnerable communities have been equipped to protect their own natural resources through training 85 locals, clearing 4 hectares of high-risk biomass and constructing vital fire lines.
Your support equips communities with firefighting training, education and tools to protect lives, livelihoods and their mountain homes. Read the Banjhe Kapase story.
