Hockney on Hockney
On Thursday 28 June at Mosman Art Gallery, David Hockney fans will have the unique opportunity to hear stories and learn insights into the internationally acclaimed artist’s life – direct from his brother John Hockney.
The presentation by John Hockney will run for 80 minutes and consist of a lavishly illustrated talk about David Hockney, his family and friends. With humour, and an intimate understanding, John examines the many genres David Hockney has mastered during his life of making pictures. The talk embraces the Man – The Artist and his pursuit of knowledge.
All funds raised at the Hockney on Hockney event will be donated to the AHF to install a solar power system at the Garma Secondary School, one of the Lower Solukhumbu’s model schools.
Garma Secondary School, in the remote Solukhumbu region of Nepal, is one of the 25 schools rebuilt by the Australian Himalayan Foundation after the Nepal earthquakes in 2015. It is designed to provide assistance for children with special learning needs.
Mosman resident and business owner Glen Bowden is committed to raising $50,000 to provide the school with a solar energy system. This will allow the school and community to use the school buildings even in the dark evenings.
Kids can have study groups or concerts, parents and teachers can meet, the community can have a space to use.
