Ladakh with Heather McNeice

Date
July 3, 2023 - July 18, 2023

Location
Ladakh

On this unrivalled moderate to challenging trek we head along remote trails and over high and windswept passes to the secluded kingdom of Zanskar in the most remote region of Ladakh. The Zanskar Valley is enclosed by high snow-capped peaks and rugged gorges that lead to tiny whitewashed settlements. Our trek is timed with the annual masked dance festival at Karsha Monastery – the largest in the Zanskar region – before we complete a spectacular two day drive back to the Indus Valley and Leh.

This trek also offers an optional 3 day extension to the remote Nubra Valley.

Join author, photographer and adventurer Heather McNeice, with expert local guides, to tackle some of Ladakh’s most remote and isolated trails in the stunning gorge country of the Indian Himalaya. You will enjoy traditional hospitality, dramatic scenery and new experiences every day on this 16 day trek through the heart of the Himalaya.

You’ll also gain inspiring insights into the support AHF is providing to the people of the Indian Himalaya with a visit to the Snow Leopard Conservancy in Leh. This trip raises vital funds for AHF’s projects in the Himalaya.

Fundraising

This trek is a major fundraiser for the work of the Australian Himalayan Foundation. For 20 years AHF has worked to help the people of the Himalaya through improvements in health, education and conservation. AHF works in partnership with local communities in Ladakh, Nepal and Bhutan in a long-term, sustainable way.

Everyone joining the trip will be asked to contribute toward a group fundraising target of $20,000 either through personal donation or fundraising activities.  Heather is planning to organise some fundraising events in Noosa before next June.
