As devastating forest fires become more prevalent in Nepal, remote communities are mobilised to be the first responders to protect the forests they depend on. Through training, equipment and community-led action, local forest user groups are building the skills and confidence needed to prevent and respond to fires safely.

In West Nepal, “eco-brick” technology is helping create safer, more resilient spaces where communities can thrive, healthcare can be delivered, and children can learn. Built using locally sourced materials and designed to withstand earthquakes, these structures reduce environmental impact while strengthening local skills, livelihoods and long-term community confidence.
